Holiday Routes - all over Niedersachsen

Whether travelling by car, motorbike, bicycle or on foot, these holiday routes give you the opportunity to get to know Niedersachsen's countryside and way of life. On your way you'll hear numerous local stories and soak up the history of this great holiday region. Here are a selection of our most popular holiday routes.


Artland Route

Picture: Logo: Artland Route in the region Osnabruecker LandThe North of the Osnabruck region is marked by a collection of unique historic farm buildings, which give the Artland route its name. Magnificent farm complexes, of which over 100 are listed buildings, lie in idyllic parkland.


Bramgau Route

Famous and notorious rulers and heroes have left their mark here. The first of whom was Hermann the Cherusker, better known as Arminius, who defeated the legions of the Roman commander Varus in the legendary battle of the same name.


German Framework Road

Picture: Logo of the German Framework RoadThis route is over 2,000 kilometres in length, runs from the Elbe to the Danube and shows how richly the style of half-timbered architecture varies from region to region. Set out on a tour through the picturesque Lower Saxony countryside with its centuries old traditions of trade and architecture.


German "Fehn" (Moorland) Route

The moorland route is a 163 kilometre long bicycle tour through the former moor areas of southern East Friesia. The route's name comes from the Dutch word "Fehn" (moor). It runs past sluices and bascule bridges, ancient brick churches and windmills.
