Recent Release26.01.2009 Border zone Niedersachsen - 20 years after the Fall of the WallThe former inner border of 549 kilometres of length between the Federal Republic of Germany and the DDR in Niedersachsen was the longest in the whole of Germany. It passed through the Elbtalaue, Lüneburger Heide, Braunschweiger Land, the Harz mountains and Eichsfeld. Many museums and monuments have been established to remind us.
