Dümmer Nature Park

At 16 square kilometres in size, Lake Dümmer is Niedersachsen's second largest inland water. The Dümmer natural park offers peaceful and diverse opportunities for relaxation all year round, particularly for walkers and cyclists. Of particular interest are the 18 kilometre long Dümmer way, which circumnavigates the lake on the Dümmer dike, and the walking paths and nature trails in neighbouring Ochsenmoor.

The lake is of course also a superb area for water sports such as sailing, windsurfing, rowing and canoeing. In winter, it's ice-sailing and skating that make the running. Fishing, swimming, riding and golf are some of the many other leisure activities that the park has to offer. To the east of the lake lies Oppenweher moor. Footpaths and plank walkways open up this natural area. The heath blossom and cotton grass are unique and fascinating. The large woodland areas of the Dammer and Stemweder hills can best be explored on foot.
