Niedersachsen's National Parks

Niedersachsen has some real natural treasures – the two most important areas, the Harz mountains and the Wadden Sea, are protected national parks. Seals, shrimps, crabs and shellfish in the Wadden Sea national park, the lynx, fox, black woodpecker, wren, wild boar and red deer in the Harz national park. more

The area was given special conservation status in 1994, because of its particularly valuable habitats, home to rare plants and animals. "Let nature be nature“ is the motto of this mountain wilderness, which is rich in legend. more


Niedersachsen Wadden Sea National Park

Instead a broad, barren flatness stretches away before you. But don't panic, the North Sea will be back - in the Wadden Sea, the water ebbs and flows twice a day, in a six hour cycle.more
