The best pyrotechnists in the world are invited to the Internationaler Feuerwerkswettbewerb (the international fireworks competition) in Hannover. Within a period of approx. 25 minutes, fireworks – a mix between acting, musical and individual productions, are put on display. The show is accompanied by classical to pop music, exactly timed to the fireworks – when the rocket is set off for the grand finale, the music also explodes. Within this period, there is no limit to the pyrotechnists’ imagination. A professional jury made up of nine members judges the competition. After the final fireworks they announce their results.

The event is always started by a multi-facetted program, in which artists invite visitors to remain in the Großer Garten (grand gardens) to witness their performance art and fine music long before the highlight of the evening. Pure enjoyment and relaxation for young and old is guaranteed in the entire Großer Garten.
