Bruchhausen-Vilsen Narrow Gauge Rail Museum

Picture: Train of the German Train Association You always wanted to be a train guard? In Bruchhausen-Vilsen time hasn't stood still, it's been turned back! The oldest outdoor rail museum in Germany has a unique collection of narrow-gauge vehicles on display - steam and diesel locomotives, engines and passenger and goods wagons.

On Saturdays and Sundays from May to the start of October, the historic rail vehicles travel the narrow gauge track between Bruchhausen-Vilsen and Asendorf. Passengers are introduced to the authentic running of a small rail operation, just as it was all over Germany after the turn of the 20th century. On the many special trips, such as the asparagus or music expresses, you can enjoy the region's cultural or culinary highlights. In the splendid lounge car, couples can say "I do", and start their honeymoon trip during the wedding ceremony!
