Hanoverians and visitors from all over North Germany have been celebrating the Maschseefest, "a giant festival by the water," since 1986. It attracts over two million people a year to one of the biggest summer festivals in the North of Germany. Shaded avenues of trees and a palm-lined boulevard along the lake give the marathon nearly three week long party an incomparable maritime atmosphere. Numerous artists and attractions await you all around the magnificent Maschsee.

Cabaret, torch-carrying swimmers, street entertainment and interactive theatre and music to suit all tastes on every bank of the lake. Young children will also find plenty to their taste - at the weekend there is a play and fun programme on the north and west bank areas of the lake. The two firework displays on the opening day and closing party day offer an unforgettable spectacle and are definitely among the festival’s highlights.
