Kaiserweg

Length: 85 kilometres, 3 days

The Kaiserweg crosses the heavily wooded Harz mountains from North to South along peaks offering wonderful views and then through the Goldene Aue ("golden river meadows") to Kyffhäuser. The start is in Bad Harzburg on the northern edge of the range, from where it goes through the middle of the Harz national park, past Torfhaus, the moor forming the source of the river Oder and the interesting former monastery of Walkenried. The Kaiserweg reaches its goal after 85 fascinating kilometres through the Harz countryside at the Tilleda Kaiserpfalz east of Kyffhäuser.
