Along the Lower Saxony North Sea coast, an approx. 400 kilometres long cycle route passes lighthouses and herds of sheep on dikes along dunes and directly at the shore.
Turn your holiday into an experience and accompany the Weser on one of the most attractive cycle trails in Germany from its source to the mouth in the North Sea on around 500 km. Principally away from the main roads, you will have the opportunity to experience the jewels of the Weser Renaissance.
Cyclists can experience three popular lakes in Northern Germany in one go on a tour through the Oldenburger Münsterland in the city triangle of Bremen-Oldenburg-Osnabrück. The 219 km long course connects Lake Dümmer, the Thülsfelder dam and the Zwischenahner Sea.
You can hop on your bike in the north of the Grafschaft (county) Bentheim, the “Holland of Niedersachsen” and discover the land of the pioneers, who once cultivated the moor. The community of Uelsen is nestled in rambling heaths. In the south, the light hilly region stretches to the impressive Fort Bentheim.
With its river landscapes and due to its location the “Tourism Region of Hannover” has some very diverse landscapes; including for example the Lake Steinhude, the hilly landscape of the “Deister” or parts of the Lüneburger Heide.
for there is a lot to discover. A round trip by bike will lead you through heath areas with sun-absorbing sandy soils, along the heath rivers or through vast moors. On the way you will come across unique sights like the Open-Air Mill Museum in Gifhorn or the Otter-Centre in Hankensbüttel.
The landscape of the Emsland is made for cycling: rambling natural spaces, age-old culture landscape, historic treasures and future oriented technology – the region presents itself as rich in contrast and varied. With little traffic and close to nature, the routes lead through the idyllic landscape, almost without slopes.
The popular long-distance cycle routes along the Fulda, Werra and Weser rivers begin in the half-timbered town of three rivers, Hann. Münden in the south of Niedersachsen. The Weser cycle route (450 km) has been attracting keen cyclists for years and on several occasions has been selected as the most popular cycle route in Germany.
Over 30 regional themed routes with distances of 15 to 250 km are offered by the cyclist paradise Landkreis (county) Rotenburg (Wümme) in the north of the Lüneburger Heide near Bremen: a vibrant and varied cycle program for both young and old alike.
Along the signposted themed cycling tours, which are also linked to the popular Weser cycle route, you will experience different sides of culture and history and you will be able to enjoy the superb nature of the Schaumburger Land, the home of Wilhelm Busch!
Right at the gates of Oldenburg and Bremen, you will come across archaeological attractions of international rank in the middle of diversified heathland. The Wildeshauser Geest Nature Park is attracting visitors with eight archaeological cycling tours.
Cyclists who wish to combine nature with modern, urban culture are recommended to take a trip to Wolfsburg. Find out about the history of Wolfsburg on a guided cycling tour. On an enjoyable round trip of approx. two and a half hours through the city and in the countryside you will stop off at a total of 10 interesting points.
